Lin Sue Cooney

For more than 28 years, Arizona viewers have counted on Lin Sue Cooney for balanced, local news. Lin Sue anchors 12 News at 5, Arizona Nightly News at 6, and 12 News at 10 pm with Mark Curtis. She is at the forefront of the station’s breast health initiative, Buddy Check 12, and also loves telling inspiring stories of hope, courage and compassion in her Hero Central reports that showcase good news in our community.

A respected journalist, Lin Sue has been honored as the Valley’s “Best Anchor” by the Phoenix chapter of American Women in Radio and Television. She also has won numerous awards for her news reporting and community service efforts including seven Rocky Mountain Emmy Awards.

Lin Sue began her career in Beaumont, Texas. She came to Phoenix from WFAA-TV in
Dallas where she was a news reporter and co-host of PM Magazine.

Lin Sue graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in English and Political Science
from Willamette University in Oregon. She holds a master’s degree in journalism from the
prestigious Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.

Off camera, Lin Sue devotes time to numerous Valley schools and charities. She and her husband have four children and a very spoiled standard poodle. Lin Sue loves living in the valley and admits to being addicted to sunshine… and dark chocolate!

Leezie Kim

Leezie Kim is the VP and General Counsel of Fox Restaurant Concepts LLC, a James Beard nominated national restaurant group. For many years she was a partner in the national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP, where she helped clients with strategic business transactions. She considers herself lucky to have represented the National Football League on Super Bowl matters; Arizona State University on its acquisition of Thunderbird School of International Management and in its education partnership with Starbucks.

She also completed four years of public service as a White House appointee to the U. S. Department of Homeland Security in the Obama Administration and as general counsel to Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano. During those years, she proudly worked on issues of immigration reform, response to the 2010 BP Gulf oil spill, response to the 2009 Christmas underwear bombing attempt and other national man made and natural disasters affecting the security of the country.

Ms. Kim is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law and Rice University. She is an immigrant from Korea who came to the United States as a child. A local girl, she grew up next door to Taliesin West in Scottsdale when that part of town was rural and remote. Her parents still live out there, while she lives in downtown Phoenix with her husband, Gary Restaino.

She currently serves on the board of the Arizona Community Foundation and the Council of Korean Americans and is chair of the Phoenix Aviation Advisory Board. You will also see her name on the next Phoenix city election booklet as part of the five person committee who approved the city-wide budget override that appears on the ballot.

Evelyn Casuga, CEcD

Evelyn Casuga recently retired as General Manager of Community Affairs at Arizona Public Service, the largest and longest serving investor-owned utility in Arizona. Her area encompassed community relations, corporate contributions, volunteer programs, and strategic partnership.

Previous to APS, her roles have included nearly 10 years in municipal government as City Manager of Eloy and Town Manager of Marana; and Manager of Community/Client Development for the Western Gateway Team, and Arizona regional economic development group, serving five West Valley communities.

Evelyn is a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) and actively serves on the Boards of Directors for Business Development Finance Corp., Casa Grande Elementary School Employee Benefits Trust, Friends of Public Radio-KJZZ, Community Advisory Board for Banner Casa Grande Regional Medical Center, and Advisory Committee to Asian Corporate & Entrepreneur Leaders. She is Development Chair for Arizona Town Hall and is on the Executive Committees and recent past chair of both the Central Arizona College Foundation and Access Arizona.

Evelyn is the recipient of the William Lampkin Long Term Excellence in Economic Development Award and the Economic Developer of the Year from the Arizona Association for Economic Development. She received the Governing Board Award from Central Arizona College in Pinal County.

She and her husband, Jerry Stabley, reside in Casa Grande and their 21-year-old son Justin attends ASU Barrett Honors College and the Cronkite School of Journalism.

Macbeth Torno, BSN, RN

Macbeth Torno is a registered nurse at the Mayo Clinic, where she is a member of the Anticoagulation Clinic Staff. Since 1983 Macbeth has been serving the Arizona community through the field of nursing in a variety of roles, including medical, surgical, and pediatrics at Phoenix Memorial Hospital; outpatient surgery, and pre and post procedure at Banner Good Samaritan Hospital; and as a staff member and preceptor in PRE-PACU, as well as the Relief Team Lead at the Mayo Clinic.

Macbeth was born and raised in the Philippines, where she received her Bachelors in nursing from Sto. Tomas, and her Masters in Educational Management from Angeles University Foundation. While working on her Masters she worked as a nurse on the Medical Surgical Floor at Sto Tomas; where she was appointed as clinical instructor. After receiving her Masters in Education Macbeth became the Head Nurse/Educator at the Angeles Medical Center, and eventually the Clinical Instructor III and Clinical Coordinator in 1973. In 1980, due to rising conflict in the Philippines and with help from her sister and brother in-law Macbeth was able to relocate to United States to seek a better life for her family.

For her outstanding work in both the Philippines and the United States, Macbeth has been the recipient of several awards including “Outstanding Chapter President,” “Float Pool Nurse of the Year,” “Nurse of the Year in Community Service,” and the “Spirit of Mother Teresa, Acts of Caring Award.” Many of her awards are for the community service Macbeth loves to participate in, such as LION, Feeding the Homeless, Medical Reclamation, and MOM, to name a few.

Macbeth currently resides in Phoenix, Arizona with her husband Ricardo Torno. They has two sons: Ritchie Matthew and Raymond Mark, and one grandson: Jordan Michael.
